Priority rules have been set up to determine the competent country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you are receiving a pension in France while working in Germany, you must contribute in the country where you carry out your salaried activity, which is <strong>Germany<\/strong>. Social contributions are due on your total income.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-eures-plugin-accordion-block\"><div class=\"accordion-top\"><p class=\"accordion-title\">Sick Leave and Combining It with a Full Pension<\/p><svg viewBox=\"0 0 24 24\" stroke-width=\"1.5\" fill=\"none\" xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\" class=\"accordion-top__icon\"><path d=\"M3 12L21 12M21 12L12.5 3.5M21 12L12.5 20.5\" stroke-width=\"1.5\" stroke-linecap=\"round\" stroke-linejoin=\"round\"><\/path><\/svg><\/div><div class=\"accordion-content\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The general rule in Germany is that the right to receive <strong>sick pay (Krankengeld)<\/strong> is excluded as soon as a person receives a <strong>full statutory pension<\/strong>. This applies both to German pensions and to comparable full foreign pensions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the event of incapacity for work, a retiree is therefore <strong>not treated as an active worker who loses their salary<\/strong>, but as a retiree. The only income during sick leave will be the pension.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-eures-plugin-accordion-block\"><div class=\"accordion-top\"><p class=\"accordion-title\">Sick Leave and Combining It with a Partial or Early Pension<\/p><svg viewBox=\"0 0 24 24\" stroke-width=\"1.5\" fill=\"none\" xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\" class=\"accordion-top__icon\"><path d=\"M3 12L21 12M21 12L12.5 3.5M21 12L12.5 20.5\" stroke-width=\"1.5\" stroke-linecap=\"round\" stroke-linejoin=\"round\"><\/path><\/svg><\/div><div class=\"accordion-content\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In Germany, it is possible to take <strong>early retirement from age 63<\/strong> under certain conditions. If you engage in professional activity alongside your early or partial retirement, you are generally considered an <strong>active worker<\/strong> for that activity. In the event of sick leave, you are entitled to <strong>continued payment of your salary by your employer (Entgeltfortzahlung)<\/strong> for the first six weeks. After these six weeks, if your sick leave continues, <strong>sick pay (Krankengeld)<\/strong> may be paid by the health insurance (Krankenkasse).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Note: the amount of sick pay depends <strong>only on your salary<\/strong>, not on your pension.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-eures-plugin-accordion-block\"><div class=\"accordion-top\"><p class=\"accordion-title\">Can I Take a Mini-Job?<\/p><svg viewBox=\"0 0 24 24\" stroke-width=\"1.5\" fill=\"none\" xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\" class=\"accordion-top__icon\"><path d=\"M3 12L21 12M21 12L12.5 3.5M21 12L12.5 20.5\" stroke-width=\"1.5\" stroke-linecap=\"round\" stroke-linejoin=\"round\"><\/path><\/svg><\/div><div class=\"accordion-content\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you combine a pension with a <strong>mini-job<\/strong>, you must, in principle, be affiliated in <strong>Germany<\/strong> (the country of employment). The issue is that you <strong>cannot be covered under the mandatory system<\/strong> as a regular employee (because there are no health insurance contributions on mini-job income). You will therefore need to <strong>voluntarily join the statutory health insurance<\/strong> yourself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Be aware that social contributions involve a certain cost, which can even <strong>exceed the income<\/strong> earned from the mini-job.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This article focuses on social security.
